Texacraft Straight Rye Whiskey is a Texas-branded straight rye made for everyday pouring at an everyday price. As a straight rye it is aged at least two years in new charred oak, and it is bottled at 91 proof, a touch above the standard 90 that gives it a little more presence in a cocktail.
Texacraft describes a deep amber whiskey with spice, dried fruit and a hint of cinnamon on the nose, followed by the peppery kick of rye, caramel sweetness, a touch of oak and a lingering warmth. It is a straightforward rye without pretension, the kind of bottle you keep on hand for Whiskey Sours, Old Fashioneds and highballs when you do not want to open something expensive. Texacraft also makes a straight bourbon in the same rugged, Lone Star packaging, and the two make an easy pair for a home bar. If you like a value rye with Texas swagger on the label, this is a solid choice.
