Izarra Yellow is a 750ml, 40% ABV herbal liqueur from the French Basque Country, founded in 1906 in Hendaye by pharmacist Joseph Grattau. Izarra means “star” in Basque, and the yellow expression is the softer, sweeter sibling of Izarra Green, built on plants, spices, honey and Armagnac.
Golden yellow in color, it is rich and complex on the nose with vegetal and spicy notes of cinnamon and coriander and a touch of aniseed, and the palate combines those vegetal, spicy notes with gentle honey. Sip it neat or on the rocks after dinner, or use it as a Basque alternative to Yellow Chartreuse in cocktails.
