Idle Hands 5 Year Heavy Rye Straight Bourbon is a small-batch bourbon distilled in Indiana in 2015 and aged a minimum of five years in new charred oak barrels. The mash bill is heavy on rye, 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley, which puts it at the spicy end of the bourbon spectrum. Each batch is built from just 14 barrels, selected with the owner of a legendary, now-closed East Village beer, whiskey and rock ‘n’ roll bar, which is where the name comes from. 750ml.
It is medium to full bodied with a sweet caramel-and-vanilla backbone and plenty of rye character: spicy cocoa, stone fruit and a peppery snap, finishing long, spicy and slightly earthy.
