Hine Cigar Reserve XO Cognac was created by Hine, the Jarnac house founded in 1763, specifically to accompany a fine cigar. It is a Fine Champagne cognac, blended from Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne eaux-de-vie aged in French oak long past the XO minimum, and bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof).
Hine built it with more weight and spice than its other XOs so it can stand up to tobacco: dried fruit, prune and orange peel on the nose with vanilla and cedar, a rich, velvety palate of toffee, nutmeg, roasted nuts and a hint of leather, and a long, warm finish that lingers between draws. It is also a superb after-dinner cognac on its own, served neat in a tulip glass.
